Another amazing gem from past director of HALO - Robynne Kingswood - about the importance of working collaboratively with your colleagues in order to build your professional network. I discuss the importance of this extensively in week 4 of the Grow your Business online program!
Embrace growth - Build your network
One person, like one finger, does less than the team working together. How then do we, our singular entrepreneurial selves build a team? This does not mean hiring on therapists or joining an established clinic, although you can. Quite simply ask this doubled edged question:
“What do health care practitioners in my community know about me, what I do, have my clinical contact information and know that I’m a fabulous person from first hand experiences?”
Follow that up with the reverse.
“How many interdisciplinary peers do I know in that capacity?”
In health care, referral is based on a trusting relationship as well as results. Ask clients for their recommendations of Naturopath, Nutritionist, Dietician, Energy worker, Homeopath, Chiropractor, Massage Therapist, Physiotherapist, Osteopath, Acupuncturist, Traditional Chinese Medical Doctor, Shiatsu therapist or other caregiver that is key to their wellness. Heck, you could try the route of Physician too. There are open minded Pharmacists who have blown my mind! Don’t rule out any avenue. Offer information about you, and be open to learn about them. Referral is a two way street.
We often hope our clients will refer friends and family, but I’d like you to consider the potential referral network of other health care professionals right now. Each practitioner has an ever expanding list of people who value health and wellness. This is your target market too.
Consider different ways to interact and build a professional relationship/friendship
